Tailgate strut top ball stud

Featured Replies

Hi,I have a Octavia 06 diesel estate and the top ball end where the strut fixes to the body popped out breaking the glass as I was closing it,I have tried to screw back in but it seems there is not a thread to fix it to,does it have a nut on the inside of the pillar that fastens it and if so how do I access the panel to retrive it?

I would be glad of any help to get this sorted please,I have not removed any of the trim in case I damaged it,thanks in anticipation,Tony.

I would expect there is a nut tack welded on the backside of the panel.

To check this, it should be a simple job of pulling the rubber trim off the affected area, bending back the plastic panel and having a look/feel.

Hi I've just picked up your message,I wasent sure if the pillar had a void behind it as I thought it was part of the structural integrity of the car  and the ball end fastened into a stud hole? but I'll remove the trim and have a look at it if I can get access,Cheers,Tony.
