Boot button

Featured Replies

Hi all. Im not sure if you guys have had the same issue but i can only unlock the boot from the key only and not from the acutal boot. Say i have unlocked my car from the key, But if i go to open my boot from the button inbetween the number plate lights, nothing happens, Even the unlock button on the centre console does nothing jusy opens and closes the doors. It is so anoying as i have to get out of the car and take the key out of the ignition and keep the boot button pressed on the key. This will open the boot. Can anyone help plz?

The boot button switch may be faulty, try taking it out and test it or  short the pins on the wire if that works the switch is faulty, if you need a new one check carefully as there seem to be many different sizes

Try seeing if there is a measuring block in the BCM that includes the state of the boot button.

Im not a good user on it. I can do the basics. But i need to know how to get to the measuring block for the boot button?

@Sharki1984 I had the same issue, occurred after 3 years and approx 50.000km. As it didn't happen on our two older O3s, dealers explained to me that final O3s (late 2016) had this part designed differently. They have repaired it very quickly, put some spacers on the bolts or something for the resolution. It was not necessary to replace the unit.

By my understanding, button inside is moving further a bit by each press, from the plastic you are actually pressing to open the boot, until it is too far to be reached by it. With these spacers they put it back within reach. They knew what they should do as soon as I've explained the issue.

I can feel the button pressed. And when i unlock the boot from the key it opens and if i press the button on the boot it makes a unlock noise too.

Exactly.

You have the same behavior as mine. It was clicking, nothing happening, but it worked from the remote.

If i dont press the boot unlock button on the key and press the boot button on the tailgate NOTHING happens, no click nothing. But if i unlock it frm the key and then press the button on the boot it makes a unlock noise, but i know the boot is already unlocked, you just need to lift the boot up.

Just a thought. It's not a setting in the options menu is it, that only the doors unlock with the door button or centre console button? ie, the boot remains locked, hence the button on the boot not doing anything.

How many times do you have to press door unlock button to open all doors???

Does your boot pop open with the (long) press of the boot button on the fob???

What's your car, Estate or Saloon???

To unlock the doors its 1 press. And yes long press for the boot does pop it open.

Also the boot button doesnt work at all.

I have checked all of the settings for the locks.

Sounds like the button is faulty, as i had exactly the same with a Citigo.  I shorted across the multiplug terminals and the boot mechanism worked as per normal.

As John mentions,  try this to eliminate the button.

If it still doesn't open then it may be broken wires or a very slack multiplug connection. It is a rare possibility that the wires/connection can be damaged with continual opening and closing of the boot.
