Wanting to buy a Skoda fabia (chain/belt driven?)

Featured Replies

Hi all. New to the forum and was wondering for some help. I have always liked the design and details of Skoda's and I am hoping to buy one in the next few months or earlier if I can find one in my price range and location. I am hoping to pick up one in the year range of 2003-2008. I was wondering if someone could tell me if theses are all chain driven or belt driven.

Any other further information you can provide would also be helpful in choosing

Welcome.

up to 2007 will be a Mk1, and 2008 a Mk2.

?

Is it a petrol you want or a diesel?

If a mk2 2008 there are 3 or 4 cylinder petrol engines.

Hi, it would more than likely be the MK1 then unless a cheaper MK2 comes up.  And more than likely a petrol model but not objecting to a diesel tho, just depends on things like chain driven, engine size etc

I think i'm right in saying that some of then engines are belt and some chain, im almost 90% sure that my 2003 AZQ 1.2l 2cly engine is chain driven. The 1.2 was updated in 2003 to give it 11 more hp and I think a slight redesign to the engine

Mines done 132k ish miles and still works well enough, its worn well and there arnt to many issues, I like it because it does the job and was £600 so I wasn't expecting much, but its only left me stranded last week when the 12v signal wire to the solenoid came off (common issue)

On a side note, a friend has a polo with the 1.4 tdi engine that I would assume would be in the fabia as well, and its a good laugh to take for a spin around.
