Watch out for this dealership con

Featured Replies

My Mk3 Superb had reached 110,000 and I booked it in at the dealership for a cambelt + water pump change along with a DSG oil & filter change.  At the time of booking the price on their menu was £529.00 and £189.00 respectively.  (Total of £718.00).  When I came to pay they tried to charge me an additional £9.00 for "environmentally safe waste oil and parts disposal".  I had a "discussion" with them and stated that this was not shown on the listed menu price. They tried to say that the charge was standard.  I refuted this saying that the disposal should be included and they reluctantly dropped this charge.  Had I not queried it they would have happily taken the extra £9.00.  Maybe not a lot but that £9.00 is better in my pocket than theirs.  NB.  The prices have since gone to £549.00 & £199.00 respectively.

P.S. They had picked my car up from my home and dropped it back off when completed.  When their driver went to drive off in their "delivery" car it failed to start.  Flat battery.  I used my jump pack and got it going.  I shall not charge for my breakdown service!!!!

😂

So thanks to you complaining they have upped their pricing for the rest of us!  Thanks a lot!  :-)

Simpsons Skoda were going to charge me £18 for a litre of oil because it needed topping up.

Upon receipt of my facial expression, they dropped the charge.

Recently an Audi customer was dismayed to see that they had been charged only £82.50 for 5 litres of oil at a service and it was explained to them by the friendly Service Receptionist that Long Life Oil costs more than the regular stuff.

Interesting.... I was asking about long life oil when I was there, apparently the Brits are the only awkward market with oil, on the continent nobody cares they just run long life oil without question.

I'd probs benefit from it, 20k miles pa

I buy Mobil 1 ESP Long Life from Halfords for both our 1.5TSi and 2.0TSi petrol engines at £48 for 5 litres and it is suitable for VAG engines requiring 504/507 minimum grade.
