Speedometer and trip odometer are not working

Featured Replies

hello,

so my old instrument cluster is dead and I replaced it with the same used one with same instrument cluster number. Before that since I wasn't able to start the car we disabled the immo in the ECU, and the car is working and now with replaced instrument cluster everything is working except speedometer and trip computer, also avg fuel consumption data aren't showing. Any clues?

thanks

Also I forgot to mention there were a couple of error codes that I erased also I tested the functionality of needles with delphi, they're working perfectly, so I don't think that it could be connection issue

It's undoubtedly a coding issue, did you recode the new cluster with the same coding as the old?

the problem is I cannot get coding from the old instrument cluster as it's totally dead

What year is the car, and does it have ABS?

I'll take that as a 'no' then, you'll need to calculate the correct coding from the workshop manual assuming you have access to VCDS or professional diagnostic equipment. If you don't then you can't do this yourself and you should take the car to a VW specialist.

So I've done the coding by the manual and speedometer still not working

I checked the speedo adjustment and it's all good, odometer also good, but the speedo not working. Also I found out this morning that my fuel gauge acting strange, turning on and off low fuel light, needle goes up than down...

I'm starting to think the new cluster might be faulty or there's a wiring issue which caused your old cluster to fail as well.

I made a short circuit on the old one when changing light LEDs :D

and I tested all needles with delphi, they're all working so I don't think it's the new cluster failure
