Replacement moulding and tyre repair kit for Yeti Outdoor

Featured Replies

Hi, Can anyone tell me where I can purchase a replacement moulding and tyre repair kit for Yeti Outdoor?

You can pick up a tyre repair kit from Halfords, either get a second hand pump off ebay or similar or again from halfords. The moulding you could probably carve out of some polystyrene, or even mould one to fit inside a plastic bag so it doesn't stick

HI Ken, Thank you for the information.  I am still hoping I can pick up the complete kit.  The Yeti I am buying has the spare wheel, but I want the option of more boot space when needed if I have the other kit too.

I have Yeti envy.. you have the model that I wanted, but due to finances I have had to opt for an older model, with less gadgets, but I am sure it will be fantastic.

I just wanted to thank everyone again for their comments.  Unfortunately the purchase of the Yeti didn't go to plan, so I am currently keeping my beautiful Fabia.

Hi,

I hope people don't mind me jumping into this topic with a similar question?

Similar to FabiaComfort04 I'm buying a Yeti that currently has a spare wheel, but would like to have the added boot space you get with the tyre inflation kit (so that with the rear seats fully removed, the boot and rear seat area is fully flat). With the spare wheel in place the bottom of the boot is higher, and there is a step down to where the seats were.

Am I correct in thinking that if the spare wheel kit/accessories are removed and the tyre inflation kit put in its place you can have a fully flat boot when the seats are removed? As part of haggling with the dealer I'm thinking of asking if they can include a tyre inflation kit - the idea being that on occasions when the extra space is needed I can remove the spare wheel and put in the tyre inflation kit, then swap back to the spare wheel when the boot space is not needed. (I'd like to have my cake and eat in in that a spare wheel is better than a tyre inflator, and its only going to be fix or six times a year I need the whole boot space).

Any info/advice much appreciated.

Hi, My understanding is that the Yeti Outdoor comes with the tyre inflation kit, and the other Yeti's come with the spare wheel.  I am not sure if that helps

I have a Yeti outdoor, it came with an inflation & repair kit (which had already been removed) in a polystyrene housing which I think is universal as I have fitted a jack & wheelbrace there.

The boot floor is flat but not level with the rear loading lip, if the seats are folded forward then its flat all the way.

There is however a shallow annular polystyrene moulding to fill the slight recess where the spare wheel could/would sit so as to have a flat surface under the carpet.

I have gone the other way and fitted a variofloor adapted from a MK1 Octavia.

Thanks Both for your replies.

So, is this a big difference between the Yeti and Yeti Outdoor? Thinking back now, the first car we looked at was a Yeti Outdoor and the dealer gave the impression that all Yeti's were the same in this respect (i.e. with the seats removed the whole rear of the car (except the boot lip) could be made flat). Possible error here in taking a car dealer at face value.

The car we are looking to buy is a standard Yeti. Does this mean that even if on occasion we removed the spare wheel and put in the inflator kit, the whole boot space could not be made flat?

I've done a bit more digging and think I have the answer. Thank you J.R., having found some pictures online I understand your reply better now.

Should it be useful for anyone else in future...

Where there is a spare wheel there will be bits of polystyrene that form a false floor to support the boot carpet at the level of the spare wheel. As per J.R. the tyre inflator kit should fit underneath the false floor and spare wheel. Therefore, in response to the original question, it should be possible to remove the spare wheel and accessories, replace it with an inflator kit and have a level rear storage area with the seats fully removed.

We have been looking for a Yeti for a while, but good ones sell really quickly. Consequently now we have found one nearby, we are in a bit of a panic to try to find out about it and view it before it sells.

Both Outdoor and “indoor” Yeti came as standard with the inflation kit to reduce weight and achieve emission targets and meet the tax limits.  Spare wheels were an optional extra on both formats and while providing the security of having a spare wheel they lost over 25% of the boot storage space. It is up to the owner to decide if the loss of boot space and danger of death or serious injury from changing wheels on the side of a busy road is worthwhile. No-one would surely think of changing a wheel on one of the new Smart Motorways!!!!!!!!!!!!

The standard fitment in ALL Yeti's was the tyre inflation kit.
No models came as standard with spare wheels.
Spare wheels were available as a factory fitted extra on all models other than the Greenline.

I didn't realise that and always thought my first Yeti, a 2014 Black Edition which came with a spare wheel was 'standard'. I bought it out of the dealers showroom, they'd go it in as a stock vehicle.

Actually you havn't but thats no surprise with one of my explanations 😀

I think I have seen pictures of what you describe, chunks of polystyrene the thickness of the spare wheel that surround it.

What I was describing on my vehicle that had no spare wheel was a very slim round annular ring of polystyrene the same profile as a sliver cut vertically off the side of a tyre, it sits in the shallow depression that my boot floor has intended to locate a spare wheel making a it level with the flat steel floor around it.

I am still unsure if the 2WD Yeti has a deeper boot floor than the 4WD Outdoor model, I had thought that it was the rear differential that prevented stowage of a full width spare wheel like the Octavia.

I dont think even a full width spare could take up 25% of the storage volume, that would mean 25% of the vertical height, my 18" space saver chosen to have the same rolling diameter will fit under the variofloor with height to spare although that space is reserved for tools, spares & survival equipment, the spare wheel will only be carried (above) on longer journeys, the lack of storage for one is the only thing I dislike so far about the vehicle.

Thanks everyone for clarifying this...I had been advised by a Skoda Dealer regarding the spare wheel.  It is great to have this forum and the shared Knowledge.

The skoda kit should include the supports and raised floor? The ones on ebay are just the wheel and jack. Incidentally the last one has the storage box which went in the space now used by the ad blu tank, so that will not fit the latest cars.

Also these tyres are quite old, you are unlikely to still be using the other car wheels at 6 years old or more. The spare will have a life expectancy even if never used on the road before, so beware.

As Skoda spare wheels are stored in the dry and in the dark and on their side then their life expectancy is high enough.

Good evening,

Did you find your Yeti ?   Due to the change of registration in the last month, lots of Skoda Retailers seem to have an increased number of trade-in Yeti's.  I was at Mitchell Skoda in Ellesmere Port last week, and they had 9 to choose from.  I am not sure where you are based, but having dealt with my local Skoda Retailers and been let down, I travelled to Mitchells as I purchased my original Skoda from them.  Their customer service far exceeded my local garage.  I dealt with Harry.

I've one of the polystyrene mouldings foe sale but it would need to be collected from Gateshead really.
