pass. mirror not staying put

Featured Replies

hi all,

having trouble with my passenger side door mirror - i've got a new glass for it as the old one was cracked. However, on removing the other, i think i inadvertently pulled off a part that wasn't meant to come off, and now, while the mirror glass seems to click on and sit nicely, it just slumps more and more until it's reflecting the road. as far as i can see the part it clips to isn't itself properly connected to the interior ring

I've attached some pictures - i think the part i'm holding in the middle pic should be firmly attached with a little toothed plastic stick with a ball on the end that clips into a tiny socket. the joystick will move it side to side but not up and down

my question is - has anyone experienced this? do you know a fix? i don't think i'd be able to get just the interior part of the mechanism unless i happened across one at a scrapyard, and this model of octy rarely turn up near me

could i just put some strong glue around the interior ring, set it to the right place and leave it? it'd be a horrible bodge but at least id have a mirror..

any advice or knowledge gladly appreciated!!
