Reverse Camera

Featured Replies

Hi All, I have a 2018 2.0TDi 4x4 manual.  As part of the factory order I added a reverse camera, and up until the other day it was working fine.  Its now not activating when i go into reverse and I have no idea where to look to activate it.  I have looked in the manual and I dont have the dash button that it indicates should be there, I also looked in the infotainment options and cannot find anything.

Anyone have any ideas or is it a trip to the dealers?

Thanks

You should have the P button if it is factory fitted.

It was factory fitted but I dont have the button.

Does your camera have the rest of the factory fit options, guide lines, different view options and lens washer?

From when i remember it working, it has the lines etc on it and i could change the view etc.  Washer im not sure of but now its just stopped working

Very strange, do your reversing lights work?

Ditto!

So turns out that you guys have cracked it, the reverse lights are not working either.

Will call the dealers tomorrow.

While thats invariably linked to the cameras not working, I defo dont have the dash button that it seems i should have!!!

The owner's manual, in typical Skoda fashion is pretty useless. It does suggest that if the reverse camera is factory fitted you get the P button.

It would seem in fact that the P button is only fitted when front parking sensors are fitted.

If you have both the reverse camera and front parking sensors factory fitted then the P button turns both the front sensors and camera on or off.

Presumably, if you only have the reverse camera, without the front sensors you do without the button and therefore the ability to turn the camera on or off. It's operation is then tied to rear parking sensors and operates with the selection of reverse gear.

Here is an early 2018 Kodiaq Edition with the reverse camera, no front sensors and as a result no P button...

Note: There are three different iterations of the P Button. I am referring to this version...

I was going to therefore suggest checking the fuse, but the reverse camera and reverse lights are operating off seperate fuses...

I didn’t know that, but I have got front sensors and the P button, so that makes sense.

My theory is of course scuppered, if it turns out the Kodiaq I used as an example has had its reverse camera retrofitted 😂

I dont have the front parking sensors fitted so maybe thats why no button on the dash

My car has a factory fitted reverse camera and no front sensors, and I have no P button.

Case settled then! 👍

Unfortunately for the OP, the lack of reverse camera and reverse lights means a trip to the dealer. Please let us know how you get on and what the eventual problem ends up being.

My money’s on the switch that’s activated when selecting reverse.

So its been to the dealers and there was a broken wire at the Gearbox that activates the switch that powers the reverse camera and revering lights.  Warranty repair thankfully.

And yes no P button as I dont have the front sensors

Seems to be a common issue among Skodas. Someone on the Fabia 3 section has had the same symptoms, and the same root cause (broken wires to the switch). Was about to suggest this until I got to the end of the thread.

Its all fixed now.  Need to admit this is my first Skoda and compared to other new cars such as Maxda CX5 etc im not impressed, been in for a few warranty repairs.
