Engine cuts off!

Featured Replies

Hello there ,

My problem start about  3 month's ago when I was on the motorway doing about 70 miles. After a while I accelerate till 100 miles, in less then a minute the car cuts off the acceleration .. I went on the emergency line , take the key out , and start again the engine..I arrived home , with no problems. But since then the car is acting very weird. It started with some hesitation when I was driving the car in gear. After the engine was keep on stopping when I was on a red light in traffic. Now basically the car works alright on lower speeds ( first gear - fourth gear) . If you tried to go faster for ex (70 miles) in fifth gear, the car will start shaking ,cuts the acceleration and when  you stop the car , the engine just dies. You can't start it after.

I diagnosed the car ..nothing shows up ..no lights on the dashboard,  no errors, nothing.I ve checked the fuel pump ..it s working fine , the fuel filter was full with diesel.

I replace the MAF sensor , crankshaft sensor , check the EGR (it s clean) and working fine. Don t know what s the problem !

The car is a Skoda Octavia 2006 (2.0 tdi-140cp) BKD.

My guess 'fuel rail pressure sensor'.

When asking for more power (power) the spring inside can't hold the pressure.

Would definitely change fuel filter first though regardless if it's been changed recently.
