Fuel prices - on the up again!

Featured Replies

Bad news again.

Fuel is on the way up and in the last fortnight, diesel in my area has gone up at least 5p-6p on average.

I'm sure you are all aware of these sites already, but I can't recommend them highly enough:

www.petrolprices.com - Register in order to locate the cheapest fuel from forecourt retailers in your area (also handy if you're travelling further afield).

www.pipelinecard.org - Started by campaigner Ben Scammell in Dec 2005, the aim is to get enough folk interested in registering for a fuel card that could see anything between a 5p-10p discount on fuel. Ben is actively seeking the support of a major fuel producer to get this thing off the ground.

So come on - whatcha all waiting for?

Signed up on both a long time ago ........but beware it's not always cheaper to go past one garage to get to cheapest one 5 miles down the road....it could cost more in the amount of fuel you use to get there than you will save

Very true - but if you live in an area where there is plenty of choice, all the better! :D

Priced it up the other night...to get fuel at the cheapest garage in Swindon and not the closest, to not loose money I would need to put more fuel in my tank than it would hold:D

I bought some BP Ultimate today. £1.02.9p a litre !! I thought what the hell. It lasts me 2 weeks anyway

fuel at my local tesco has gone up as follows in the last month :(

99ron 91.9 - 98.9

95ron 88.9 - 95.9

The Petrol Retailers Assoc said today that the rises are due to increase in usage in the US and also due to the uncertainty over Iran.

I guess we will just have to put up and shut up eh?

Diesel in Marlborough =

1.09 for a litre of BP ultimate! in coventry some where!! :thumbdwn:

but the thing is......price went up over afghanistan, though afaik, and i'm no geography nut, they don't produce much oil?

Likewise, price went a bit mental over iraq- and we know they've got oil fields....

Are Iran part o OPEC? I don't know, but sometimes I get the feeling that sometimes it'a bi of a knee kerk on company'a parts, and interestingly, after the hoo-hah calms down, they don't drop the prices back really either.

Als interesting to see is that it all kicked off when it was hitting 90p a litre a year or two ago, but this time...........nothing..........

It's to early for this. I'm going back to bed.

Its also down to the rediculous demand of the USA and the pressure on refineries.

Not that the media have really covered it but last week so a new all time record crude oil price in London. The Americans have also seen six straight weeks of gasoline stocks drawdown. Iran is a member of OPEC and a major world exporter, any military action or sanctions will dramatically affect the global oil market. April 28 is when the security council are meeting to decide what to do.

Us-Iran possible conflict, US "driving season", and major shortage of US output thorugh last years hurricanes, plus the ongoing Iraqi situation have all contributed to the high cost of crude giving high petrol prices. We all complain of the high taxation levels levied on our fuel, but at times like now we are insulated a little more than most to the sudden hike in fuel costs...simply because we are high to start with.

Hence why I filled up in Essex last night! 93.9p there, or 98.9p here. Hmm.

i saw diesel for 99.9p today at crystal peaks in sheffield! arghh!!
