Howdy Everyone!

 

I am 20 years old and now a happy Skoda Octavia owner! (My first official car) 

I love everything about it, not the first Octavia I drove, so I kind of know my way around it and what it's all about. 

As I bought it used with 36k km on it, I couldn't spec it out the way I would have wanted, but it doesn't miss much to have it as I like. 

In fact, the only thing it misses in my opinion is Xenon headlights. Right now it has Halogen I believe or LED, not sure. 

The question is, what is needed for a xenon change? 

Is it just the bulbs inside or do I need to change out the whole headlight? 

Has anyone here done this before, if so any experiences you could share? How easy was it to do/ did you do it a mechanic ,etc? Lastly, what was the damage (pocketwise)?

P.S Gonna leave a pic in the attachments, hope that someone could tell me what my headlights are (Halogen/LED).

If im not wrong it’s not cheap and painless operation. You would also need headlight washers —> new bumper?

You need to change the complete headlight, add the ignter, change the BCM coding/adaptation and add wiring back to the BCM (and maybe change the BCM since IIRC not all of them support Xenon headlights).

 

Re headlamp washers and automatic levelling - legally in the EU they are a requirement with the Xenon headlamps that are fitted to the Octavia.

 

Best to just fit brighter halogen bulbs - unless you like LOTS of work.

Yup, looks like a LOT of work and money required to do such a thing... 😞
