Just got my new Skoda 1.5 TSI - Two "features" missing

Featured Replies

Hello Briskoda community!

Just got my new Kodiaq 1.5 TSI (quartz gray) and still in the phase of understanding what is in and what is out when it comes to accessories.

To clarify the statement above, it is because in the local market here they are selling a special version called "Executive", but it is not the Executive version you have in many countries; here the standard versions in the Catalogue are either Ambition or Style, with no other version in the middle. So what they call Executive is simply an Ambition with some special accessories, namely 18'' wheels (Trinity with anthracite design, very nice but I assume difficult to fix in case of scratches), interior with seats half fabric half leather and other minor "amenities".

I have discovered I am missing two features I was giving for granted in any version:

  1. the protections for the door, those pieces of rubber that come out automatically when the door is open
  2. the removable torch in the boot!

Are these two features excluded in any Ambition version maybe?

While I don' care at all about the doors' protection (actually I know it is giving problems to many after a while), I am really disappointed about the removable torch, as it was the most used accessory in my previous Skoda Superb.

At its place there is just a plastic cap; I have opened it, but as expected there is no cable behind it.

Do you believe I can mount one on my own? I know it is usually on the left side, but similar cap is also on the right side and I could maybe connect it to the 12V plus, that is just very close.

Does this torch exist as spare part? Online I am able to find the one for the Skoda Superb, but none for the Kodiaq. Is it the same?

Massimo

Thank you Kenny for the full list!

So I am a victim of cost reduction 🙂

Still lucky, based on the list, that I have still two umbrella and four bag hooks in the boot!

Ok, at this point my questions about adding the removable torch is still valid.

Appreciated if anybody could share their thoughts about it.

Thank you,

Massimo

I think you could add a much better torch than the Skoda one , maybe one with a magnet or Velcro  on the base/side to be stowed in the boot area ?

Maybe not has neat as the previous installation but more useable. 🤔

You could attach a loop of velcro in that housing to attach an aftermarket torch of your choosing. Lidl and Aldi have recently sold powerful magnetic and hooked torches recently for about £10*;

We have two head lamps in our car. No need for velcro, magnets or other solutions.

Where do you keep them stored so they are at hand when you need them in a rush, or do you wear them all the time?

First, thank you all for the feedback.

What I like of the original removable one is that it works like a normal car's light when you open the boot, but at the occurence you can take it out to do some work.

But indeed, because two standard (fixed) lamps are already in the boot, the fast and easy solution for other purposes would be to stick somewhere a lamp like the one proposed from Lidl.

We got them in the armrest. Get some cheep ones and put them everywhere in the car.

I guess everybody has a built in torch in the cell phone if the armrest is too far away.

An advantage you'll have if you do decide to hard wire a removable torch in the boot is it should be charged when you come to use it. With the option I gave above you'll need to remember to top it up or have a long usb cable handy!

A possible solution is a torch/usb charger. I keep one in the centre console and use it when charging my phone or TomTom. That way the torch is always charged. This one also has built in seat belt cutter and glass breaker.
