Android Auto

Featured Replies

Hi

I have recently picked up a Monte Carlo and can't seem to get the voice control working using android auto. I get the beeps to suggest it's listening but then nothing happens. It also notifies me when I have a txt message but won't read it out. I presume it's something obvious I am doing wrong. I have had a quick look in the app settings but couldn't spot anything.

Any help would be most welcome.

What sort of phone are you using?

I used to have a similar problem with Android Auto on my Huawei P20 - I found that switching the screen off on the phone would resolve this issue 99% of the time.

If it's already off, have you tried rebooting your phone?

Thanks

I have a Huawei P30 pro so that may well be the issue. I will give it a go.

Hope it does the trick!

From another thread on the subject, here's the method I used to use with my Huawei P20 which made sure everything worked every time:

1) Start the car.

2) On the Infotainment system, press "Menu" and then "SmartLink".

3) Wait for the "SmartLink is loading" message to disappear.

4) Unlock the phone, ensure the screen is on.

5) Plug in the USB cable.

6) Wait for the connection to be made, then press "Android Auto" on the Infotainment system. Note: sometimes it fails the first time, but pressing the button again always works.

7) Once the Infotainment screen goes black (and the Android buttons appear at the bottom of the screen), switch off the phone screen.

Thanks, this is really useful.

I innitally tried opening and locking the screen which didn't work, however since restarting the phone it has worked fine. Thanks again

I'm trying to use Waze on Android auto, but can't get any direction instructions through car or phone speakers. Anyone got any ideas on how to make it work please?

Do you get direction instructions if you're not using it on Android Auto?
