Felicia Indicator/Fuse Question.

Featured Replies

Hi.... I have quite an odd (well to me at least) problem with the indicators in my Felicia. They keep blowing fuses at an alarming rate! The first time it happened, i am not sure of the exact circumstances, but i went to indicate, and nothing happened... I replaced the fuse, and all seemed good. This fuse lasted for a bit, and then went. Now, sometimes a fuse will last for a day or two, other times, they will go in a couple of minutes! Sometimes I can hear them go pop! They dont seem to go when I indicate, its just when I indicate, theyre no longer working... There dosent seem to be any obvious thing that causes the fuse to blow (i.e braking, or reversing etc) and I really cant see any common thing I do that may cause it.... So far, I have replaced all of the indicator bulbs, (obviously) replaced the fuse a lot of times(!), checked all of the obvious wiring I can see going to/from the indicators (for rust/corrosion/bare or rubbing wires), checked similar things regarding the reversing lights (because its a shared fuse), and checked inside the indicators for any moisture. But cant find anything wrong!

Can anyone help me!!!

Cheers....

Alex.

:) 1st step is to see what else is powered by the same fuse, it may not actually be the indicators that are blowing the fuse.

Hi.... Ive already kinda checked that. The indicators share a fuse with the reversing lights - I have checked the same kinda things on the reversing lights but still no joy. I guess that I called the thread "Felicia Indicator/Fuse Question." because I need the indicators more often!!! Alos, the reversing lights dont trigger the blow (ie going into reverse dosent make the fuse blow), but I guess its just as likely that it may be a problem with the reversing lights....

:) The reverse light switch is on the gearbox and gets a permanent live fed to one side of it...might be worth checking it's wiring hasn't chaffed on the gearbox, or maybe the clutch lever as that's constantly being moved. Are the reverse lights the only other component to share the same fuse?

Hi.... yeah the reversing lights are the only other thing that share the fuse. I had my mate have a looks (who knows a thing or three about cars), he had a poke around, said there isnt a short circuit, and there dosent seem to be an open circuit (?). He also took the trim off around the steering wheel, and tightned some bits up under there. It was all fine for quite a bit, and then today, they went again! "he reverse light switch is on the gearbox and gets a permanent live fed to one side of it...might be worth checking it's wiring hasn't chaffed on the gearbox, or maybe the clutch lever as that's constantly being moved." how do i check that daverapid?
