Heated seats

Featured Replies

I recently got a 2013 plate citigo sport. I was hoping to find one with heated seats but they didn’t come with this model. Anyway I was looking under the seats and noticed that it looks like the heated seats are installed with wiring in place. It doesn’t look like there is a fuse for them and no switches. Does anyone know if I can retrofit the missing part of the system if I already have the seats?

Are you sure the wiring to the seat is not for a presence or pressure sensor for the seat belt warning?  If there are unused  connectors on the seat, that may be heaters, but I'd be surprised.  The other problem will be activating the low and high settings, as the dash switch just signals the car's computer, sometimes called BCM or equivalent in other cars (body control module); not sure for VAG.... Anyway you need to know that heated seats are software enabled (i.e. will respond to the dash button, put on the lights on the button etc.) There will be fuses and a usually a relay somewhere too...

You might hit lucky!

Thanks for the response. I thought maybe its a presence or pressure sensor but there seem to be too many wires for that. Also the one seat looks like it has some sort of fuse built into the circuit. Ill try and post some better pictures later. Would anyone have a wiring diagram for the heated seats? I've checked for wiring where the heater buttons would go but doesn't look like that's in.

It's extremely unlikely that your car will have any of the parts or wiring required for heated seats. The seats on a Citigo have airbags built in as well -don't forget these

Yes - good point!

I had no idea that all versions might have side airbags.

It still comes down to unused connectors, but I think you are right - I cannot believe all seats are pre-wired for heating - makes no economic/production sense.
