Karoq SEL 2020 Model

Featured Replies

Does anyone have the 2020 Model Karoq SEL? Could someone tell me are the rear indicator operations similar to those fitted on Audi models. T.I.A.

Wrong wording

From what I know the rear indicators are standard bulbs. I’ll let you know on the 2nd when I pick up mine.

Apparently they're called dynamic indicators as fitted to the Scala & Kamiq

the karoq has standard bulbs in the rear lights the best you can do is fit LED bulbs like i did to my sportline

Maybe of interest and no doubt too wordy on my part again - the current What Car has a comparative review of a 1.5 Karoq (I think SEL) v new Mazda CZ30 & MG battery car.  The Karoq comes out top overall, with the best handling/ride combination, but they say the 1.5 engine is noisier than the Mazda (+ of course MG) and so is road noise compared with both.  The Mazda is said to be hardly any higher up than a standard saloon - I reckon more a competitor to the new Ford Puma & BMW 200 series MPV.  Also the Mazda suspension has problems - the car has a tendancy to lift the inside front wheel on bends, which doesn't sound impressive.  Back to the Skoda, it does seem the VAG 1.5 engine varies significantly from sample to sample, as is evidenced here from what people say - some people are very impressed, but not everyone.

Going back in time, I tried a very early BMW 200 1.6 diesel with sports suspension and low profile tyres, before buying the Yeti 5 years ago - I was very unimpressed with the BMW, very hard uncomfortable noisy crashy ride and decidedly odd unsettled steering over broken road surfaces.  I didn't like the chintzy black leather sports seats either.  The engine was noisy compared with the 1.6 diesel VW SV I drove, but reviews have noted that this diesel in the 200 is the version to avoid.  Trying my 17" shod Yeti a couple of weeks later on the same bit of road, yes the ride was firm but definitely more controlled and the steering was nice & steady - felt like a well sorted car in comparison, even if ride proved a bit firm ultimately for my taste (my now 92year old Aunt thought it just right though - she likes firm riding cars).

I note that Autocar had some questions on the BMW 200's suspension in their review some years ago and that they thought the anti-roll bars too stiff, though didn't say how this manifests itself.  A friend recently bought a less sporty low mileage S/H 1.5 petrol 17" wheel Luxury model.  He seems happy with it, but he does note the ride is firm and there is some road noise.  I've not been for a trip yet, but sat in the driver's seat and was surprised how low compared with my Karoq - the latter just about the right height for me.  On the other hand the BMW interior ambience in Luxury form is rather nice, probably better than the still very pleasing SE Tech Karoq.  The BMW does seem quite roomy in the back.

For information, out of the 4 cars I tried before buying my previous Yeti, the VW SV (Golf) was the best, nicest quietest ride (probably still better than my 17" wheeled Karoq on broken surfaces, but that was a few years ago, so would have to check it again) & roomiest of the 4.  Yeti - 2nd best (highest) seating position and easiest, most compact to drive, but ride definitely harder and noisier on rough surfaces.  Citroen MPV - 3rd ride a bit boaty but acceptable to me, but odd semi-automatic gearbox and cheapish feeling interior & seats - last was the above mentioned BMW MPV - just didn't like it in sporty suspension version.  Both VAGs felt nicely sorted quality cars.  3 of the cars were on several month's waiting list, with only the Yeti available immediately, the ex-demonstrator I'd tried, so that was that.

Still more to say (please ignore if bored by now), I had a 400mile return trip yesterday, to Derbyshire to see my ancient Aunt & then took her over the moors to Sheffield.  The Karoq was noticeably more comfortable and enjoyable on that trip overall than when I used to do it in my Yeti.  Quieter, less road noise (even after the Yeti had been reshod with 16" wheels with X-climates) and ride over a few rippled surfaces up there in Derbyshire, that was just too bouncy in the Yeti, was now rather more serene, if inevitably still noticeable.  The 1.0 pulled splendidly up the steep hills over the moors, gear lever in sport of course, but the engine remained very smooth and quiet above 2000rpm - even better than the 1.2 Yeti and that wasn't bad in such situations, but had a bit more growl.  The 1.0 SE Tech DSG Karoq, really is a very civilised all round car.  Just sort out that less than perfect low speed ride on broken surfaces and reduce the road noise further (I hope to improve on both anyway within 12 months, thro' wheel & tyre change) and I'd want to keep the car 20years - plenty powerful enough for me.

That's quite interesting, the new SE L has LED everything - except for rear lights. Weird, I had a 2011 Jazz that had full LED rear lights but nothing else.
