singlae mas flywheel conversion strangeness

Featured Replies

bought an octy with a BKC engine that had a new National Autoparts dmf conversion kit fitted plus a sachs slave cylinder.

anyway the issue is the clutch pedal seems very high and very light, also the bite point is very high.

we used to have a Seat Toledo ASV which we had a Valeo conversion fitted and that was similar.

so is this normal behaviour for the dmf conversion?

You state both SMF & DMF, to which are you referring? DMF is standard fitment.

Being hydraulically operated I wouldn't worry unless the clutch doesn't fully disengage on depressing the pedal or slips under full engine load.

sorry I mean it has been converted from a dmf to smf.

New clutches are usually very light to use, some of it is down to the new slave cylinder, so the lightness is not be concerned about unless it’s slipping as Mac has pointed out.

I can’t comment on the biting point as I’ve never fitted one of those kits, but I’ve driven a few cars with new clutches that have a high biting point, I’d just see how it goes, it’s probably fine.

Agreed; if it's not slipping it's OK, and if it is take it back to the fitter!
