Fuel starvation

Featured Replies

Hi guys and girls sorry not posted for a long time but had a good run of luck with the vrs and no problems have arisen until now.

Last year my fuel pump packed in and ever since when the car gets to 1/4 tank of juice it kangaroos and cuts out, then re-prime the pump and away it goes for another few minutes then same again. Now I’ve put up with it since and considered 1/4 tank as empty. Been searching about the forums lately and i think the pump i got maybe wasn’t a 3 bar pump. It certainly wasn’t a genuine part as TPS wont serve to the general public.  last week i bit the bullet and got my work to get me a genuine pump from TPS unbeknown to me they have always had an account with them but at a cost of 238 big ones. Upon taking the inspection panel off I’ve found the following on the newish fuel pump from last year:

1. the arrows for the fuel flow are present but the directional arrow isn’t so maybe the pump isn’t square enough in the tank. When i put the new one beside the older one it shows the pump is too far anti-clockwise and as far as I’m lead to believe the directional arrow must be pointing exactly toward the rear of the car.

2. Upon opening the bonnet there a 3 pipes from a unit just above the coolant tank and they all seem loose or as if there pushed into the housing properly. I don’t want to force them as I’m not sure if these pipes are to be completely flush however they all go off too the fuel injection system.

3. I live in Plymouth and was wondering if anyone is 1. From this area and 2. Would do an sai, n112, n249, pcv and Evap Delete for me and they would be rewarded. Also mot time is just around the corner and am considering doing some more mods to the car in the line of induction kit, dump valve and inter cooler. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
