Hi All,

My rear wiper works most of the time. Then sometimes doesn't.

Usually, it works. And it can work for so long that I wonder if it ever didn't. Then it will play up again, but only for a journey or two.

This last time, it's stopped working for about a week.

Today, it seems to be fine again.

Any idea how to get to the bottom of this?

My first thought would be to check the wiring loom in the rubber gaiter between the body and the tailgate to check for breaks.

When it's not working go out and push it downwards it will suddenly spring back to life, mine has done this for years

It seems to be working again at the moment, so I'll not touch it! 🙂

 

I'll give both of your suggestions a go when it next fails on me.

Hi! Sorry for bumping this thread but have you found a solution yet? My 2009 mk2 has the same problem, though it acts up far more often. I've been working on it today and I've cleaned the contacts on the stalks and I'm yet to find out if it helped. I also have an issue where the windscreen wipers don't go into the highest speed. This makes me suspect it might be a dodgy ground connection on the relay box. I'll post an update if I find anything..
