Traditionally annual price changes often take place on 1st April,

Offers usually run on a quarterly basis, but sometimes get bit extra for a fortnight towards end of second month or early third month

Difficult to know what next offer will be, sometimes interest rate will go up, but deposit contribution goes down.   Sometimes other way with more deposit gift.  If aiming to fully pay you want biggest deposit contribution as the interest isnt relevant

Some dealers offer better price for finance, but VW Group finance allows you to pay it off in full during cooling off period (days 1-13 after collection) with just few days interest, but keeping any special offers (this is not publically advertised and some naughtly dealers have denied this even if specifically asked).   You just ring up once processed at VW finance and they tell you how to settle.   But if miss 14 day period then the normal early repayment penalty conditions apply

Carwow is seperate from Skoda.  It is a finding service, that allows you to say I want car with spec X and dealers can punt for your business by offering a price.  You then deal with the dealer direct (and they pay carwow a fee for finding them a customer)

You could always try broker sites like coast 2 coast cars, (there are many)

Hi, thanks for your reply. The wife won’t touch pcp she thinks it will cost more in the long run. I’ve heard about this paying off early cooling period. Is this the cheapest route.

It often is, because as your wife points out, if you use finance long run, you pay back more than you ever save.

By paying off (and many cannot afford to) you can get their incentives, keep them, at virtually no cost

Effectively you are getting those who continue the PCP and pay the interest to subsidise you

The only time it doesn't make much sense to pay off is if it is zero %, as may as well earn interest, and just pay off when balance payment becomes due.

But if they have choice of various deals, get biggest deposit contribution, because you are never going to pay the higher interest that goes with them (but never tell the salesman you intend to pay it off, they might not offer a deal, knowing their arrangement fee might not happen)

I’ve been offered the car for £18200 cash with £7500 part ex. So if we went for the pcp on Carwow

we just pay off the loan immediately with no extra cost.

Not quite immediate, need to allow a couple of days for dealer to send the signed finance agreement over before you can phone and get settlement, so might have to pay couple of pounds in interest
