In love with a Kodiaq that no longer exists?

Featured Replies

I am awaiting our new Kodiaq L&K 2.0TSI  (Crystal Metallic Black with Beige interior). Although my wife and I are very excited about the new car (build week 23rd March...fingers crossed Corvid19 doesn't impact), I have to admit to already experiencing a certain disappointment. I watched dozens of reviews and videos before buying, and was a little beguiled by some of the 'simply clever' accessories. Only to find that some are no longer provided. I loved the little things like door edge protectors, detachable boot light, two umbrellas, Laurin & Klement logo on seats. Now it would appear that these things have largely disappeared. We do not have children, so saw no need for child proof locks, only to find out that without this facility I can't have door protectors. I know that a number of people on this forum think that they are more trouble than they are worth, but it would have been nice. I also now find that only one umbrella is provided, and that the detachable light is no longer provided. Also logos only on the front seats (I think I am correct in saying).

My wife and I are still looking forward to taking delivery of the new car, but I am wondering how many other things will no longer be available (such as beige roof with beige interior). I know this is a bit of a moan before I even have the car, but I thought it might make me feel better.

Love this forum by the way.

.I wouldn't mourn the loss of the light and umbrella as they're little more than gimmicks. The light is little better than a candle - you'd be better off keeping a decent little torch or a head torch in the boot. As for the brolly, it's only good for light showers and not when it's windy.

The black roof lining with the cream interior sets off the car perfectly.  Double cream would be just too much! 😁

Also, space is still present for passenger brolly so easy to sort.

I actually find the umbrellas quite useful as I often forget to take one with me.

I presume you still have two umbrella holders.  If so, just buy one of these M&S ones for £9.50.

I noticed these in M&S the other day (when I was carrying my Skoda brolly) and they looked pretty much identical.

Thanks for that, they are half the price of the Soda ones.

Yes, it does look good. I like the fact that the dark paint around the window gets lost, and also the black reversing mirror doesn't look like an 'add on'. I do notice though that the L&K logo is not on the rear seats. Is the umbrella compartment still there on the passenger side?

Sorry 'Coopers', just noticed that you already answered.

Yup, no logo on rear but that has no real value! Lnk looks ace n u will be very satisfied when it arrives. 👍🏻 You will not notice any cost cutting once u have driven it!

You will also like the black sunroof blind, gives a good look when needed.

I quite like the detachable boot light. I managed to lose mine, but bought a replacement on eBay for £20. Assuming the fitting still exists in new cars that’s a pretty petty cost saving for Skoda.

The new lights r much brighter so you can actually see what's in the boot. The detachable light n the yeti was rather useless. My smile was brighter! 😁

A question for 'Coopers': Has the wireless charging facility gone?

There are multiple LED's on the torch, a set on it's back which act as an additional boot light (really bright and an added bonus when working in the boot at night), and a second set on the end, hidden when stowed and that perform the 'torch' role. It is the latter LED's that are really poor and not very useful as a torch at all.

The light / torch on my mobile phone is roughly twice as bright.

As mentioned the slot for the missing umbrella in the passenger door is still there so you can buy a replacement umbrella if you choose to.

No, the wireless charging feature was removed in the UK at the same time as the phone signal booster.

It was thought it would be reintroduced once Skoda UK had worked through their messed up certification on signal boosters, but alas it has been a couple of years now and no sign of it returning.

Hmmmm...

Don't agree. We have used our umbrellas in the Superb on multiple occasions and they were really handy in that sudden shower when you stopped somewhere. They are no good to cover 2 people but do an adequate job for a single person. Certainly stopped us from getting drenched.

There is some talk that the Enyaq interior look will appear in the next Kodiaq update, which might mean the phone charger will re-appear.

You were spot on about this. I now much prefer the black roof, so glad they made the change.

I got our L&K last month. It was dealer stock, in fact their showroom model. I was after a SEL but they only had that in black and I wasn't keen. Like you I had spent many hours on research online and was looking forward to the little touches like you. At collection I mentioned that there was just 1 umbrella and the dealer pointed out that was now correct but he 'got one from the back' for me.

I was also disappointed about the door protectors but it does seem that they have been more trouble than they are worth.

The only cost cutting that disappoints me is the remote release to drop the seats from the boot. OK, it's a moment's walk to the rear door to do it manually but on a 'top-spec' trim it should be standard.

I'm really impressed with the comfort and ride quality. I came from a Land Rover Discovery5 so it feels smaller but as comfortable, and I'm getting 37mpg from the 2.0tsi with only a couple of hundred miles on it.

Enjoy it when it arrives

Had this car for 2 months now, and I am really pleased with it. Things that I really like are ACC, Park Assist, all round cameras, traffic sign recognition, virtual cockpit, Android Auto, and SPACE.

Things that I wish I had added are Family Pack (didn't realise this was how you got door protectors and sun blinds), KESSY tailgate. Though to be honest, the absence of these has has almost no impact.

The 2LTsi gives me mid to upper 20s in town, and the best on a run has been just short of 39, though I haven't tried Eco yet.

Love the car.
