gear box

Featured Replies

been told by a Skoda garage we need a gear box at £4000 for our 2010 superb auto, its still running after a service but is rattling and not smooth anymore? is this really the price we would need to pay or can it be done at a local garage with a recon gearbox? thanks

You'll probably need to find a gearbox specialist with experience working on the DSG transmission. Has the gearbox been properly serviced over its life? If so you might be able to squeeze a bit of goodwill out of Skoda.

yes it has been serviced regularly but No can do with Skoda, they say only they can deal with the gearbox.

Could be Dual Mass Flywheel (the rattle may be a clue) - take it to a specialist (NOT DEALER!)

@cherryb

The dealer would replace the whole unit as one

As above take it to a DSG specialist

where abouts in the country are you?

@cherryb  Welcome to the forum.

?

What engine does your car have?

I am assuming you have a 6 speed DSG that required servicing / oil changes,

and you were getting that done and not a 7 Speed Dry Clutch DQ200 DSG that did not require servicing.
