service

Featured Replies

I have a 2015 Octavia vrs tsi and is due a service, Skoda have all the service records online with them and there is no service book issued with this vehicle. can I obtain a service book so I can get a service elsewhere? as the Skoda service is expensive and get the book stamped or can an independent garage access the Skoda service records online and add to the service records?. Also does any body know how much difference when trading back in to a Skoda main dealer it would make if the servicing was carried out solely with Skoda or an independent garage servicing?.

thanks

I believe a vag independent garage can access and update the service records.

I'm not sure a service book or stamp is worth anything. If you were to take it to an independent just make sure you get a fully itemised invoice setting out parts used and work undertaken.

A good independent vw group specialist will be able to update the digital service history. If my warranty had just expired I would consider the dealer just incase I needed goodwill from Skoda, but since you're relying on a competent dealer to be able to diagnose faults it's kinda pointless....

Anyone can add a service to the online record, but I find Skoda’s fixed price service decent value but the price is creeping up. Never have them do a major service as it’s just all checks and they won’t be changing anything for the foreseeable. It won’t make a huge difference come sale time so if you are going to do it, find a good place to service it so you know it’s being done right.

You can request a paper copy of the car's digital service history from any respectable Skoda main dealer for free.

Fold it up and keep it in the glovebox together with all future invoices.
