Problems with washer fluid level indicator

Featured Replies

Hi

I have a 2017 L&K with 70.000 km on the odometer that indicates low washer fluid level even when it is filled to the brim, i have erased the fault code at my local Skoda shop but i reappeared once again.

It all started when i (foolishly?) filled washer fluid while the engine was running.

Do anyone here have an easy way to fix this?

There is nothing about filling the washer fluid with the engine running that could cause this.

You probably have a faulty sensor on the tank.

You access it from the wheel well, bit of a faf but not a huge job. But if your car is newish its a warranty?

This video was for another purpose, but you can see it at the point cued, the plastic tank.

Hi and thanks for the respons.

Skoda in Sweden don´t sell the senson, you have to buy the complete tank and sensor etc as one single part.

Do you know if this aftermarket part fits, works properly and is relatively easy to swap?

@FredrickG What do you use to fill the washer tank?

Do you use 'tap water' or specific washer fluid? In the 1st case, there may be lime deposits on the sensor electrodes? This could fool the sensor... 🤔

Otherwise, start checking the sensor connector and the wiring. ;)

This sounds sensible. Also, I posted something on this subject some time ago which may or may not have been useful, which was to avoid using screenwash with rain-repellent additive as it can coat the sensor with a hydrophobic layer and prevent it from "seeing" the fluid in the tank. Whether this is what you used, and whether it can be cleaned off, I don't know, but be aware for the future.

Thanks a lot for all the help.

Now it´s time to swap the sensors, does anybody have an instruction video of some sort, that shows the easiest way to remove the inner wheel arch housing (don´t know if i´am using the correct term)?

have a view of this to give some sort of clue....
