Maxidot journey summary

Featured Replies

Evening all, I’ve had a search but nobody seems to have an answer to an observation I’ve had in older threads.

I’ve seen that some Maxidots show a journey summary however mine will not show this.

Any pointers to get this to show up after a drive?

Cheers.

If it’s not showing it’s a firmware thing, knowing your radio is a B revision would seem to suggest that your car is a very early FL and likely doesn’t have the newer firmware on the cluster to show the journey summary.

That’s a bummer.

Never mind. Do you know what other features I’m likely missing out on with a newer unit other than this and the option to colour code the displays to match the ambient lighting?

In all honesty if it weren’t for this forum I’d never have know that these features even existed so wouldn’t have missed them otherwise! 😂

They would have been nice perks to have but not essential behind me buying the car.

I believe I have the newer screen with the FL so could just retrofit a C unit with all the features but I’m unsure if I’d need a new BCM, I also have some warranty left so don’t want to void that.

My 2014 and very basic 1.4tsi Octavia has three trip modes on the maxidot,  they are since start (current trip), since refuel, and long-term ( which is not  very 'long' because it resets every 99 hours of driving).

When in any one of the modes, including current trip, you can cycle through distance travelled, average speed, journey time, and average consumption (plus a few other non-trip specific relevant stuff like distance to empty, instant consumption, oil temp etc)

I'd count that as journey summary and be very surprised if yours does not have the same feature and probably more, but on mine you do have to enable each feature on the very basic (Swing) infotainment unit.

You are only missing out on the ambient lighting colours on the radio and Maxidot and the journey summary. Nothing more. If you wanted a C revision radio it would be a bit pricey but possible to do and then you’d need a firmware update on the cluster to match. Your BCM supports ambient lighting so you wouldn’t need to change that.

The 'journey info' (summary) is a relatively new addition, it appears after you turn off the engine...

@SashaGrace excellent thank you.

I’ve got a rough price for the unit that includes the performance monitor, it’s whether I can justify it for those features.

At the minute, in the current climate and with warranty remaining I can’t.

Good to have a better understanding of the system all the same though and one for the future.

@silver1011 that ties in with what Sasha has said regarding my car being a very early FL model hence why it isn’t available with my hardware/software combo.

Thanks @silver1011, I was not aware of that one.

A nice to have but I would not actually spend any money or effort to add to my vehicle. Mine pretty well stays on average consumption for journey for what little use it gets these days

I've got the journey summary on the maxidot display on my car.  Don't think it is that useful and could happily manage without it.

@nbramwel I am still not able to enable Journey Summary on the maxidot display. I own a Skoda Octavia III 2017 L&K with Amunden HU. I have even updated the latest firmware to 367 but still unable to enable this Journey Summary. Could you please let me know how you enabled this information ?

Regards,

Sreehari

I didn't.  My car is a 2018 and it came with the journey summary information already enabled.  Still don't find it that useful.

@SashaGrace and other Experts - Need help here

Is there a way to enable Journey Summary on the maxidot display in 2017 L&K Octavia having Amundsen HU with 367 firmware.

Not sure if this works but with a obd dongle (£5 ebay) and Skoda lite app the journey information is recorded in the app
