Hood Bonnet Stay Clip removal

Featured Replies

Hey, having issues to remove this part, so I could replace it with a non-broken one.

Anyone have experience in doing so?

As you're going to replace it you can afford to be a little "unsubtle" in removing it.  I used a broad flat-blade screwdriver as a lever and protected the car bodywork by putting a strip of leather (I just had some lying around, but anything reasonably tough should do) under the blade and then levering gently to lift the clip but without risking distorting the metalwork.  Patience and working round the clip sorted the problem.

Plan B was to cut off the clip part (Dremel), drill out the centre of the clip base and use a fine hacksaw blade to cut the base up, working from the drill hole out.

I'd suggest planning to rustproof/touch up the paintwork after removing the dead clip and leaving the paint long enough to harden properly before fitting the new clip.

Thanks, flat screwdriver was the right tool. First to avoid scratching the paint I used pliers to make my way and pushed it through the end with the flat screwdriver. Didn’t have to protect the paint either, pliers made it safe to operate, thanks for the help.
