Burning passenger window switches

Featured Replies

Hello all,

Hoping for some input on an issue Im having.

Since I bought the car (2009 octavia elegance estate) the drivers window control module has had an issue with the passenger automatic function- you know, one click goes a little bit, 2 clicks goes automatically all the way. It would automatically go all the way down, but could only use the first click to bring it back up.

Minor I know but annoying.

So today a new switch module arrived. I plugged it in and tested it- all working! Great! Very pleased with myself.  So i clipped the whole lot back in and left it feeling smug. Pathetic I know.

Much to my dismay the next time I got in the car, I found that the problem was back! But now the window wont even go up automatically on the second click.

Worth noting the individual switch on the passenger door works just fine and always did.

Im no auto-electrician but I cant help but think that something is causing the switch to blow? Relay? Wiring short?

Can any of the geniuses among you shed some light on this for me please?

As far as I can tell the car is watertight so no damp ingress....

Any help much appreciated
