vRS MPG - Surprised

Featured Replies

Just done a 300 mile round trip in my new Octy vRS and was really surprised to find I have a 1/4 tank left and averaged 35.8mpg according to the mfa for the journey.

Was motorwaying it at around 80mph and then a bit of stop start through stoke on trent, then a good run down the A50 at around 80-ish again.

Must admit, I am really happy so far having done 500 miles now since collecting her on Saturday, and it's actually proving fairly frugal :)

Next run to cardiff will be the test though, all A road and it will have it's neck rung a couple of times on the way down.

cheers

'kin ell, that is bloomin good. I was raving about SWMBO achieving that extact mpg the weekend just gone. Overall though (after 7,000 miles!) getting an average of 25.1mpg which is still better than my old MkI vRS.

My best mpg was done at evening cruising at @50-55mph, 46mpg.

This was a 25mile trip one-way. The mpg was bothways average.

So far my mpg has been from 33mpg to 40mpg. Depending on pace.

Well.. bottom line is that I also enjoy cruising at steady speeds, instead of contiunous flooring. I

2000 miles in average 23.4 mpg.

Did a 50 mile round trip up and down the A1 a couple of days ago at a steady 55 on cruise control, it just managed to hit 40 mpg! Won't be doing it again though, almost fell asleep!

Thought about getting a TDI, on a bad day they get 50MPG....

Had a fabia vRS before this m8, I would average 37MPG in that on a spirited run :D

How on earth did you do that, I don't think i ever managed to get my octy below 48mpg even on a fast A road run.

would not like to say on an open forum :) but involved making swift progress in the wee hours of the morning on around 200 miles of fairly twisting and undulating A roads

Best average over a thousand miles I ever got from my fabia was either 42.7 or44.7 iirc.

I used to average around 365 miles to a tank

Take your Fabia fuel economy elsewhere, it's not welcome in the gas guzzling world that is Octy vRS ownership!. ;) :P

he he 44.7 is really low I think, but hey I hear in the rumour mill there may be a 170BHP TDi appearing in the Octy II VRs.

Ohh wouldn't that be nice if it's true :P

I'm averageing about 33mpg after 2500 miles.Bearing in mind I've only had the car two weeks I have done traffic light starts as soon as I was out of the wear in miles.

I've been getting 45+mpg on a regular basis driving at around 60ish back and forth from london to bournemouth in my Octy vRS mk1. It's also running 16bhp above stock which is with no mods. it's only when i get into town that she starts to suck on extra fuel.

What with the price of Opit max hitting 99.9p a litre i try and conserve fuel for when i need it the most, like toying with the little boy racers in there halford moblies.

I think the funniest thing is watching the poor old computer trying to make up its mind. Started a trip showing 8.1 mpg !! Within a few minutes it was up in the 20s and after half an hour on the M23/25 it was showing low forties. I still think it needs an overall car-life average, which it doesn't have because it resets at 10000km [or at least, that's what my book says]

you went out and bought a 200bhp petrol turbo sporty car and all you can talk about is your mpg. what a waste.

Sheeesh, some people :) , nope don't forget it's being run in at the moment ......... I was just surprised by the mpg I was getting, remember the last petrol car I had was an Impreza, and the one before that was an S60 T5.

Besides, after Shifties experience, it would be suicide to say I had X mph out of the octy, or it went from 0-60 in x or mention the "spirited" manner in which it was driven back from Telford last night :D

I shall continue with my "pipe and slipper" threads, if you don't mind

lol fairplay

if you are running it every day mpg is important,i had an impreza as well 19 mpg is not funny.
