Warranty extension due to CV19

Featured Replies

In a separate thread @Steady-Eddie posted that his warranty was extended due to the current unpleasantness.  Mine is due to expire at the start of June. Anyone heard anything? Is it dealer-specific? Thanks in advance.

Clarify title

There have been posts from people with what they think is a warranty issue and they have reported their concerns to Skoda UK.

If the vehicle can not be checked at a dealership because not open they can be done after the lockdown is lifted and Dealership / Authorised Dealerships are open.

I have not seen mention of how long that will apply for, but then Dealership will be busy and it would need to be a reasonable period of time.

Having just read the email again, they say that any work not carried out due to covid-19 will not affect the warranty.

Sorry for the misleading info

That does not say that a 3 year manufacturers warranty will be extended by any time.

So maybe just the T&C's concerning Manufacturers servicing recommendations might not apply.

But they would be taking the pith if they said a Warranty had expired during lock down.

I received the following reply from Skoda when I raised a similar query about my own (closed) dealership/service centre:

"Any issues that would normally be covered by your warranty will still be covered provided you have reported the fault to your ŠKODA Retailer within the warranty period. If your Retailer is closed due to COVID-19 and so you cannot report the fault, we have recorded your notification and you now have a reference number which can be passed to your repairing Retailer when they reopen to accept bookings. However, please note, existing warranty periods will not be extended, also any warranty claim will be dependent on a full diagnosis to confirm whether the fault is warranty defect or not."
