lemmiwinks - perform remap ourselves?

Featured Replies

Thought this link might be of interest to those who'd want to remap themselves (sorry their cars!)

Apparently lemmiwinks is available for download and compatible with vag.com.

See also item no 8056113394 on ebay.

Happy tampering - see further down thread instructions how to reset to standard ecu settings and says avoid use with anything less than windows 98 se.

Who will be the first? My money's on Jason (although he's Jabba'd up)!

You can also use custom-settings which is a bit more user friendly and can be downloaded here: http://www.custom-code.co.uk/component/option,com_remository/Itemid,44/func,selectcat/cat,1/

The most successful changes done with this that I've seen have been on Normal Aspirated engines such as the V6 4motion Golf.

You won't see much gain on turbo cars as you can't increase boost with this software.

It is useful though even for those with remaps, the most commonly used feature is ignition timing adjust so you can make best use of the fuel octane you fill up with.

Thanks Eddy, Apparently cannot be used on a tdi, just advised by Josh Polo Gti, nevertheless interesting!

Any remapping which doesn't involve upping boost is not worth doing in my honest opinion. :)

And I will not be trying any remapping myself. There's some thinsg i will try myself, but these are mainly mechanical. Once I start getting into software settings - forget it. I'll leave that to those that know what they're doing. :D

Custom settings won't work with my cable - although VAGCOM does :(

I have a 2005 Fabia 1.4 (gas). I'd like to be able to tune it myself, but I'm confused as to what software can be used for computerized tuning, i.e. is VAG COM ONLY for reading codes? Or can you re-set idle, timing, richness, etc with that? Or, do you need to use Lemmiwinks? Please clarify for me how to tune a Fabia. Thanks!
