beeping octavia estate mk2

Featured Replies

some times i get a beep(bong) sound if i leave my dash cam plugged in (lighter plug remains live) so cam is constantly on, battery is new so can't be battery drain surely and some time the cam is not even plugged in, any ideas

If it's a low bong,  that is usually the Battery Low Level warning.  I used to get it if I left the radio on whilst cleaning the car.

You get a similar low bong when the temperature is around 4°c, and a snowflake symbol appears on the dash.

Beeps normally involve leaving the keys in the ignition when you open the driver's door, drivers seatbelt not on whilst the vehicle is in motion.

The mk 2 is very sensitive to the supply voltage. Even with a new battery it is possible to get to the warning level with a relatively small drain overnight - such as through the cigar lighter socket.

Depending on the model variant and age, you may just get bongs or you may also get a message on the display to the  effect of "start engine to recharge battery."

As said above, leaving the radio on for over an hour will initiate it too. Note that the radio switches off after one hour and you need to switch on again to continue listening - gave me bongs and message display after about another half an hour. (I was listening the radio commentary at an airshow).

Yer thanks. I unplugged the camera for a couple of days. Locks car and when I go to car at end of work it is bonging again. Nothings plugged in.
