valve stem seals 1.9 tdi

Featured Replies

hi every one looking for some help has anybody changed valve stem seal on a tdi before i have a 1.9 tdi with asv engine in it .

car failed mot on emissions and other thing so i took it to a garage the guy said he thinks it could be something internally like valve seals or piston ring

ant help would be appreciated

Was it visibly burning oil (blue/white smoke and an oily smell)? Stem seals won't normally let enough through to cause an issue for long after start up.

Personally, I'd put a new fuel filter in, fill that with injector cleaner and go do a track day (or at least beat your personal record time for driving to work), then see what it's like.

l have just done a oil air and fuel filter change and added injected cleaner as well.the garage had it running  the guy said that it was still smoking after it had heated up really can’t take for a run as the mot has run out

I'd be looking into turbo oil seals rather than valve stem oil seals. Usually valve stem oil seals only show signs on initial start up first thing. Unless the engine has extremely high miles or has got  extremely hot.
