Hi everyone.  I have a skoda octavia mk 3 and up dated my info system to Amundsen mib 2 with a new screen, I have the component protection taken off and all works fine except 2 things. The Voice button, when pressed says, You can activate with a code from your dealer, and i remember reading that the usb port has to be changed.

Can anyone shed a little light on this for me and if i do need a new usb which one do i need .

Who did the radio work for you? CP removal isn’t the only thing that needs doing so I assume someone outside Skoda has re enabled the features for you? They haven’t done the FeC for the voice activation.

Hello . Thank you for that. Yes a company done it for me in Birmingham . They are really nice people, I can pop back to them and tell them what you said and hopefully have it all working. Its a really nice unit, i will try and pick up a new usb now that i know which one,, do you know if they are easy to replace .

Yes. Remove the screen, pull the climate panel out, pull the USB panel out and unclip the USB.

Hi. May i ask if you know the reason my mode sw on the console doesn't work after my upgrade.

How has this work been done for you, have you visited someone and had someone code it or have you bought a radio that is CP free and hacked and fitted it yourself?

I bought the radio, then went to a place in Birmingham that codes radios for Audi Vw, ect, They took the protection off for me. 

It all works except for voice and mode. You told me the correct usb to get so that's fine.  They are going to activate the FeC for me. Is there anything i need to have done to activate the mode sw. Rob 

Also im a little confused as to which satnav card i need as there are so many with different numbers, do you happen to know the number of the one i need .

Driving mode is usually Gateway related, has the CAN Gateway been changed? Have them check the coding on your radio again to make sure it’s all setup for drive mode as there is some coding in there. If it’s a MIB2 Amundsen the part number for the SD is 5L0 051 236BJ

Hi can anyone tell me the part numbers i need please. I have a skoda octavia mk 3 1.6   2013 diesel and i want to update my steering wheel for the multi functional one. presently i have a 4 spoke, 3 or 4 spoke would do. I need to know so that it will fit and the centre with the air bag will fit.

No worries, I would get a scan done of your car first before you worry about part numbers for steering wheels as if the CAN Gateway does need changing it’s more ODIS work to be done before the wiring is sorted.

I have now got a  copy of a complete scan how can i find out which steering wheel with buttons i need .

Post the scan up here, if not the whole scan then 16 steering wheel controller and 19 CAN Gateway at least. I can check the part numbers against a list of part numbers with with listed features and see if you need to change any other hardware.

Looks like you at least need a new CAN Gateway unfortunately along with the airbag wiring and steering wheel. If you want to do this I do have (somewhere) a High 5Q0 Gateway which is correct for an Octavia and removed from my car. This will need CP removal at least to work in your car before you worry about a steering wheel. PM me for more details on that if you like.

Thanks for that, it seems such a lot to do just for a mfsw, is there lots of programming to do or is it just a case of plugging it in and fitting the wheel . ?

Once the Gateway is done and the CP dealt with and the drive mode programming reloaded onto it it’s just the airbag loom and the wheel buttons to add afterward but yes, it is a faff.

I have had the cangate fitted to the car, component protection has been activated, removed , All works except for VOICE,and Driving mode, am i missing something. It has all been done with the correct programming software.

Also the satnav sd card says it sees it but says navigation data in infotainment  system not valid, check data . Any ideas . Rob 

Voice FeC is in the radio rather than the Gateway, was the drive mode issue solved with the old Gateway before the new one was installed? Have you updated the navigation system at any point? Again, have the FeC checked. Navigation and Voice issues shouldn’t be related to the Gateway itself, any errors when scanned?

The drive mode was working till i upgraded the infosystem then it just stopped, same for the voice control,  I dont know to update the satnav card, do i have to update the satnav sd card .
