ŠKODA Fabia II 2010 power steering fault

Featured Replies

Electric power steering yellow light came on,it had done this before after starting on two previous occasions.

I tested the battery and the reserve capacity was down and it went flat over a week.

fitted new battery and all was ok until on restarting yellow light came on,I managed to get it off once but that did not last long.

on using VAG com the only fault was terminal 30 low power bc and the reading show 8.8v in the measuring blocks.

wiring at the pump was ok reading over 14v when running and the earth was checked along with the ignition feed

The Sealed  green cover fuses were checked and the lead was swooped to a different fuse to eliminate hairline fuse crack

The only thing I can think of is a defective pump unless anyone has any suggestions.

It might be worth sticking the multimeter on the supply at the pump and have someone mover the steering wheel. You'll find out quick if the voltage sag being reported is correct, might be worth taking a look at the earth's next to the power steering pump.

Thankyou DriveTom

I have checked the earth and that was ok with no corrosion on the earth point.

I also had a friend check the voltage

with a multimeter and everything pans out,all I can think is the pump electrics have gone down as there are no other faults apart from terminal 30 steering assist signal too low which normally points to connections, broken wires or fuses and I have gone through those checks without finding anything obvious.

What ever happened to a belt / engine driven steering pump !!!! 😣
