Hi All,

Newbie here and looking for a bit of advice. Got a totally standard VRS diesel with FSH it had timing belt and water pump done back in 03/2015. It’s done only 50k since. Should I replace now being 5 yr ago? Seems there’s a few trains of thought on the WWW but I thought I’d ask here.
Thanks in advance.

I would.

Depending where you read youre looking at between 4-6 years and about 60k miles.

Either way you are going to have to get it done in the next year if you go with the longer time and if the shorter suggested time is used its overdue.

Either way it will give you a piece or mind, and it isnt exactly an espensive job.

From memory i paid about £350.

Yes needs changed due to age

Absolutely, the PD engine is very hard on the timing belt and idlers, replace the lot as soon as you can.

Thanks guys. Gone and booked it in Friday for belt and pump, oil and filters. Better safe than sorry I suppose. Bought it to learn my lad to drive primarily but I love it lol!
