Wiring Looms

Featured Replies

Hi all, a small question for a Friday afternoon...:D

Wiring looms - would I be correct in assuming that regardless of the model spec, all diesel Fabia's will have the same wiring loom?

So for example, although the Classic model doesn't have front fog lamps fitted as standard, the wiring will be there to add them if you wanted to?

Sory, it's something that's always puzzled me... :D

Not sure how far they take it, but I know that the heated seat wiring is not standard and is added in specially for the Elegance trim.....

Chris

No you wouldn't be correct I'm afraid - It would be so much easier if they were.

Thanks for the replies - I'm suprised, I would have expected in today's more frugal manufacturing process that everything would be as standard as possible.

Any ideas what the standard items are? i.e. fog lamps, rear speakers, the rear 12c socket etc.

Hewesy

What are you trying to find?

  • Author

At the moment rear speakers, and the rear 12v socket (estate/combi).

Cheers Stu,

Hewesy

You might get lucky with the speaker ones but I doubt you'll find the rear ciggy lighter one.

The rear ciggy lighter one would be easy to add though.

rear ciggy - tap off existing ciggy wiring, but would be wary of doubling the load at one time.....

I have found there's differences within the different TDI looms, which is why I had to 100% rewire my car when doing my conversion. Differences in the vRS engine loom compared to the pd130 were many - sump level plug, washer bottle sensor, connector to compartment loom was different, compartment loom had different vacuum box connector, extra wire for bonnet catch, different connectors on bulkhead connection to interior loom.... It went on and on.

I would run a seperate fused circuit from under the dash for the ciggy lighter if I were going to do it myself.

Run it down the drivers side under the kick plates and into the right rear wheel arch.

Thanks for the assistance chaps, I'll stick to the rear speakers at the moment, and I will run a seperate line from the battery for the 12v supply, if I need one...

Cheers,

Hewesy

There is a lovely source of 12V up under the dash already in the cabin, roughly behind the headlight switch. Come straight down the side pillar and along the kick plates as I said.

Cool, thanks Stu. Is it a main feed or there for another reason??

Just seen your pics of the towbar on the other post, looks a good job.

Hewesy

To be honest I'm not sure what's exact title is but it is some sort of main Busbar that supplies power to the main fuse box.

You'll need to drop the lower tray to access it but that's easy. It's where I took the power for my dads caraven charging circuit from on the advice of a certain well known Master Technician :P

There is a picture but it's really out of focus I'm afraid.

Aye that will be the relay plate.

Rear speakers will need the wiring run from the back of the headunit iirc.

I'm sure you are entirely aware but just in case you aren't - Make sure you put a fuse in the supply to the ciggy lighter if you do it.

Thanks Lummox and Stu - you are very helpful chaps indeed.

A fuse would be on the shopping list - if I build up the courage to do it! (Or rather, get permission to do it:D ).

Cheers,

Hewesy

No problems - If you need more help feel free to come back.
