Summer maintenance on my trusty felly.

Featured Replies

Hi to all fellow forum members.
As summer is upon us here in Greece I am thinking of doing a few things to my felly.
First of all clean the cooling system and replace the coolant ( I will do it with a garden hose and yes it works)
Secondly I want to tighten the rear drums cause on the last service they had a tad of play, so can you tell me the required cotter pin size and also is it enough to just add a ton of grease on the grease cap and pack everything in there well and tight or should i remove the drums and grease the bearings normally.
Other than that I want to replace brake fluid so should I just remove some with a syringe and replace it or is it better to completely flush the system like bleeding every wheel.
Also I will post a picture of my compressor because I cant seem to find the proper amount of refrigerant to go in there and I dont want to take it to a shop and mess it up.
Lastly I will try to make a cabin filter for the car, we will see how this goes
Any tips opinions comments are welcome

Ideally, both.

The former method will replace some 80% of the fluid. Bleed the rest on each wheel. Refill reservoir. Enjoy.

regarding cabin filters, which one is supposed to fit my felly, to my knowledge it doesnt have an air filter so it would need the oval one to go on top of the intake, part no is dzh-907? btw.
Now about the compressor
Do you recognise it?

How much freon does it hold

Both. You'll be surprised to see there is a rectangular place for the white filter if you remove the top housing of the blower.

I'll have to check later today.

There should be a sticker on the bonnet slam panel specifying the refrigerant type (R134a) and the system capacity in grammes, it will be a black sticker with silver text IIRC.

where should i search for brake fluid capacity

Inspection and Maintenance, page 59. The brake fluid capacity is not indicated per se but you'll get an idea how much you should buy to replace the old one. I am using 1.5 l for that operation.

Factory service manual doesn't cover 3rd party AC sets...

This whole unit with blower and evaporator replaces blower housing, so there's no easy way to remove it to fit filter. And regarding to intake filter.. I tried it, that thing is only good to absorb water, making it nearly impossible to demist windscreen..

According to user from czech forum, refrigerant capacity should be 750g - but since these sets had several variants, it can be different in your case...

The reply was about brake fluid.

As for the refrigerant, I gave the answer 15 days ago.

Next time read carefully the entire topic.

Papez my friend you are alive I thought we lost you from this forum.

As for the filter if it absorbs water then it's useless

You gave answer copied from Skoda factory manual, but Thefeliciahacker doesn't have factory-installed unit, but retrofitted one without proper documentation available. My answer is from owner of the same unit, by coincidence, it's same.

Nice Post ! Just a quick question to FeliciaHacker :

I see that you are using LPG. I am curious about your average consumption. For me (1993 Favorit LX 1,3 Carb) I am at 10L/100km on daily use (this mean 20 km morning and 20 km in the veneing on mostly higway (70% highway 30% traffic) with an average speed of 100 on highway. When on long distance I calculated an average of 7.5-8 L/100km. (these are my most recent stats 1 month ago)

The car on the highway consumes approx 7L/100Km going around 3k rpm with 5th gear.
In the city numbers of 10L/100Km are not so far fetched
