Mine was doing the same, I managed to prise it out carefully using a very thin flat bladed (not sharp) knife wraped in a piece of paper.

What I found was that a small piece of plastic had broken off, so the switch wasn't rocking left and right perfectly straight as it should. It was easy to lock the doors, but to get the switch to open them required a bit more fiddling.  When I fiddled around, I found the door opening did actually work, you just had to press and rock the switch up and down a bit at the same time, which seemed to do the trick.

If you can prise it out, and there is any sign of breakage, you can probably bodge a fix by gluing a small piece of plastic or similar.

Maybe just need a new switch then.  At least you know how to take it out now 🙂

What was it in the end?  A gunked up switch or a bit of broken plastic or something?

hi the rubber had swelled in the switch and was not siting correct on the rocker buttons i also took it to bits and cleaned it ....but i feel it was the rubber not sitting right i had to trim it to make it sit flat in the switch....but thanks for your help without you i would have not even got the switch out 🙂

Result!  Sometimes you just need a bit of confidence to do things.  Knowing someone else has done something gives you that confidence to know it's unlikely to break when you try. 😀
