Virtual cockpit change dial colour

Featured Replies

Hi, there are some uTube videos of people changing the colour of the virtual cockpit dials through the head unit to match the led strips in the doors.  These were either Audi or VW but the dials look much the same

They never show if there were VCDS ir software tweaks behind this

Is it possible to do his to the Skoda dials.  If covered by another topic please sign post

Yes. It's done via the infotainment system.

It's in Car - Settings - Background Lighting.

NB. You can only change the background colour, you CANNOT change the colour of the font (it will be white). You can only change the font of the VC if you have either VCDS or OBD11.

Hi in this link all sorts of elements are changing colour including the actual dial surround.  Also when the revs increase the number next to the needle gets bigger.  There are all sorts of changes being shown.  There are other similar videos mostly VAG cars, but I see no description as to how this is being done.  It all looks too advanced to be OEM based.  Open to ideas

Different car, different colours, different typefaces etc.

I used OBD11 to change my dash from 20mph increments to display in 10mph increments. I've tried changing other things like typefaces and got just one, which is a very simple style rather than the heavier and racier RS typeface.

Background colour is via the infotainment system, if you want to use VCDS or OBD11 to dig further be my guest, but I don't think that you're going to find anything much more than two typefaces and the colours that you can find in infotainment.

If you order a car with virtual cockpit, also spec the ambient lighting
