octavia tdi

Featured Replies

Hi all, since i've had my vrs :D , My father is looking at getting a octavia tdi, is there any way of telling the difference between the models ie 90, 110, 130 bhp?? as he currently owns a 90 bhp xantia td... (not the hdi lump) Or his other option is to remap, chip his xantia which i dont believe is worth the money??? I welcome any info..

The classic and ambiente only came with the 90 bhp engine.

The elegance had the 110 engine at first (Red I on the badge) , then from 2003 was also available with the 130 (the badge will have a red D and I)

Towards the end of it's lifespan they also did an Ambiente SE with the 130 bhp engine. It had different alloys to the elegance , no sunroof and manual aircon instead of climate.

They also did some other special editions like the silverline which I think were 90bhp only.

Id recommend going for an elegance to get the choice of the better engines

130 bph elegance.

Thanks guys...

The 110TDi is a good buy and the engine is a little less choosey on oil relative to the 130PD. :)

The 130 gets a 6 speed box however.

So what if it's a bit fussy on oil got a 130 L&K very pleased with it had a xantia previously tell him to try both 2 see which he prefers but might as well have the extra toys if you can.

Pretty sure the classic only came with the 68 bhp non-turbo SDI engine, or at least it did in 2002. The Ambiente is the 90 bhp TDI as you said.

I've recently swapped from a Xantia XUDt to an Octy Elegance TDi110, and had an Ambiente TDi90 as a hire car once. I'd say he'll find either of those engines has "adequate" performance, unless he's finding the Xantia slow.
