DSG Gearbox and supension issues

Featured Replies

Hi,

I am new to this forum, many thanks in advance for any info shared. I have a 172 plate (Irish) Superb 2.0 TDI 150bhp, Bought from new. From the day we got it we have had issues with suspension and gearbox, if going down hills the car decides to drop from 6th to 3rd and screams its way downhill. Anybody have any suggestions? Also we cannot keep shocks on this car, it drives 17 miles to work and back every day so no biggie there! It has had a set replaces by skoda under warrenty but seem to be gone again! Does anybody know ride height for this car, as we were trying go trade it, when the salesman say it he said "there was not a shock on it and they would have to replaced, so smaller trade in value. Sorry so long winded, but if any of you pepole could throw some light on this I would be very greatful........Enda.

Welcome to the forum.

No idea sorry.

  How many km has your car done?

If you have a DSG box can't you put it in Sport and take manual control of the gearbox choosing either 4th or 5th gear to lower the revs. The Style model will be like the S or SE in the UK which rides 15mm higher than the Sportline models. Welcome to the forum.:thumbup:

Hi Shy,

The box is slow to change up, but quick to change down. Leaving it in normal mode as my wife drives it most of the time, she is the one who sees this problem every day. We had the box oil changed thinking this may have solved the issue, but alas!

@Enolan

Did you have the DSG oil changed before the 65,000 km that it was due a change at?

?

Did you never try another 2.0TDI with a 6 speed DSG to see how that behaved?

It should never have been dropping to 3rd unless on a very steep decline.

My only experiences of DSG going downhill are that if you brake it changes down, if you brake hard on a steep incline it changes down a few more gears to provide engine braking. If you don’t touch the brake pedal it stays in a high gear. Then you have the choice of the eco/ coasting option.

My 2016 2.0TDI SCR DSG Alhambra could when not in 'Coasting' mode drop to 5th if not on the accelerator or brake on long steep down slopes, or i could just manually change to 4th but it did not like that if you were not touching the brake pedal.

3rd would have been far far too low gear.

If it's a 172 isn't it still under warranty,did you go back to the dealer about the shocks? I hope to have a spare set in the next few months when I fit some koni actives but no issue with mine (161 190tdi) and 91k on the car.
