Rear parking sensor fault and VCDS help!

Featured Replies

Morning all, first post on here and there are a couple of faults to write about!

I have a Superb Mk II with 350k miles on the clock (my dad's as a taxi driver).

First fault:

Rear parking sensors says "can't optimise" or something to that extent with a continuous audible beep and no display. I have bought a new sensor and fitted it in all of the positions but to no avail. I'm now thinking it could be multiple positions failed or something deeper like control box, wiring?

Second fault:

Driver's door wiring loom was in a horrendous state, broken wires in pretty much most of it! The driver and driver rear door wouldn't lock, windows wouldn't work, mirrors didn't work, light etc didn't work! So I have soldered in and extended new wires.

But............I stupidly turned the ignition on when the harness was removed and as some of you will know......"airbag fault" ensued immediately!! Grrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!! I don't have a VCDS or Vag-com reader to fix this, so if anyone is in Yeovil or nearby.....🙌 Or if there is another way??

I also need a rear wiper motor, but I will change that in time.

Thanks for reading and your help.

You can use this map to see if there's anyone near you who might be able to help with VCDS. Just send a polite message to nearby members and see what you can arrange. I'm not sure if you can use something like Carista to clear an airbag fault, but you could read up on this and see if it is possible or not.

You should be able to see any faults with the PDC through a VCDS scan as well.

Best of luck.
