Mind of its own door locking, alarm.........

Featured Replies

Afternoon all,

Fabia Mk1 6y vrs 2006

Had my car scanned and its pointing to the drivers door mechanism been faulty, car locks and unlocks itself whilst driving and once parked up. Triggering the alarm and generally been annoying.......... I'm completely new to Skoda having usually driven vauxhalls (Don't judge me) I've sourced a new door mechanism and done some research and believe some skins are 10mm bolts and others use rivets... Knowing my luck i presume they will be riveted, does anyone know the rivet size as i don't mind getting a riveter as i'm sure its one of those things that at some time i'll use again and wont be able to find.... Or have people had success with self tapping screws the car is low miles and in mint condition and i'm wanting to keep it that way so any advice tips will be very much appreciated!!!!!!!!!

Rivets are 6.4X10.0mm. Part number N91078801. 10 rivets in each front door. Bolts were only used up until about 2003.

I suppose self tapping would be frowned upon?

I know some people on here have used self-tappers but mine are bolted so I haven't tried it myself.

Not sure whether those rivets you link to would be any good as they are 2.4mm smaller.
