boot open warning when opening glove box

Featured Replies

can anyone explain why my boot warning comes on when opening the glove box, only just noticed today after having a towbar fitted

Sounds like an earth fault.  I suspect that either the tow-bar earth is not correct or loose and the current is finding its way back up the line to earth via Glove Box.  Is the tow bar a genuine Skoda one or is it a third party?  Who did the work?

Fusebox layout can be found here - check that either Fuse 38 or 43 is utilised (for Tow Bar electrics) and not a tap off a lighting circuit.

Have you modified boot or glovebox light?

I changed boot lights to super bright LED off aliexpress and got same result. I ignored it initially. But on one outing, the battery was completely drained and after rescue boost started the car, I got boot open warning constantly. Changing the boot light back solved all issues.

I had the same / similar problems after I fitted multi led light modules in the boot of my 2017 Octavia Estate in place of the standard incandescent lamp type units.  If an interior overhead light was left on when these modules were fitted  and the car was locked the alarm sounded. If standard bulbs or even replacement led bulbs are fitted into the existing boot light units there were no issues and the car shuts down the power to the overhead lights on locking saving a flat battery situation . I tried two different sets  of multi led light unitd modules before abandoning them!

Had the same problem after fitting LED boot lights, except I got the boot warning when manually turning on the map lights in the car, took the boot lights out and all went back to normal.

Cheers

Has anyone found brighter boot LED-s what don't give this error? I changed boot LED-s to Aliexpress ones and now when motor is running and opening glovebox I get drunk open message to dashboard.

The standard LEDs are so dim that it is too dark in the boot.

Yup. Go check out Kopacek / Super Skoda and you will find nice bright better than OEM boot lights for sale
