Which oil and oil filter 1.9tdi bxe?

Featured Replies

Hello there, Needing to order full filter set and timing belt etc but have come up with a question. There are two oil filters listed one has manufacturer restriction hengst and the other seems standard. Is there any way of telling which one is fitted to my skoda without removing filter. I suppose I could just order them both but its seems a waste. I found on the fuel filter casing UFI but cant see anything on the oil filter housing to help identify it. Its a 98 mk2 estate 1.9tdi bxe. Any help welcome.

If it's a 98 model then it's a MkI not a MkII.

Sorry its been a long morning. Meant to type 08 not 98. It was made in Dec 2008. Thanks for noticing

I'm not sure if the oil filter type can be identified by an external visual inspection.

Try putting your registration number into Eurocarparts and seeing what shows.

The worst that can happen is you buy different types and return the incorrect one(s) or remove, measure and replace the current item, you'll just get a bit oily!

Thanks for the replies. The one shown on Eurocarparts looks the same as my old fabia 1.9tdi but it had the older engine not pd. Reckon I will have to pull it out and see.

Thanks again

I think there's another version that doesn't have the stem sticking out. Not sure which engine that's used in. But for my BXE is was the type with the neck/stem on it.

Many thanks its the first service I am giving the car since I got it. I will order the one with the stem.

Thanks Alasdair

Hi, my Octavia is a bxe and the filter is the same as my daughter's fabia atd engine code.  As mentioned in other replies Eurocarparts or gsf, can identify the filter you need.

Thanks for the reply. I got it sorted out. Pulled the old one out and its the one with the spindle on the end. As said same as my old 1.9tdi fabia

Thanks again
