"After losing control of his Skoda just before 06:00 BST on the Bay Gateway between the M6 and Heysham, the 21-year-old was left hanging upside down.

Lancashire Police said he would now go on a driver alertness course."

Hmm, bit rusty on that exhaust bracket.....

At least the lad is unhurt. Wonder how he managed to end up lke that. Re-enacting Top Gun, perhaps?

that's near my in-laws and i use that road quite a bit

I'm trying to work out if it happened at the M6 end, or at the roundabout which is half way along

Given the top gun comment up thread then the "I'm a superstar I'll over (re) act" is a possibility, as is just plain old vanilla 'gung ho' (AKA oh $%%^%$) - this was also just called stupidity when I was a lad (yes it was a while ago).

Another Mk1 VRS Fabia off to the great scrapyard in the skye (deliberate typo).:tongueout:

*goes to check the "cars breaking" section for new entries...

on a serious note though, hope the lad is actually okay.

be it a freak occurrence genuine accident (they do happen..) or incident which caused an over correction and thus... or, a classic "watch this".... "ohhhhh shhiiii...." moment of talent exceedence, it will still be an experience he wont forget for a long time.

i know the mk1 furby has unfortunately reached that point where its a yoof accessible cheap performance hatchback, but its still sad to see another one end up gone.

Reports are the driver walked away, presumably shaken but not stirred ...

I wonder BTW who was holding his beer?

Do cars no longer have cup holders, then?

If the Police are sending him on a Driver Alertness Course does that mean he was asleep at the wheel?

Having actually owned one they are a safe, fun, small car if driven sensibly. However a sudden steering correction to avoid hitting someone or something could result in a tank slapper and a loss of control and given enough speed with the wrong steering lock on it might end up the wrong way up. As we all know it is very hard to drive a car when all 4 tyres are not touching the tarmac.
