Roof Rack

Featured Replies

Any recommendations for a decent roof rack?

No roof bars so would fit in this tapped holes at the top of each door.

Whats the crack with the door seals, is it bad for leaks or does the secondary one stop any water egress?

I’ve seen the Thule ones, are they worth the coin?

Probably use it for a roof box or bike storage.

What do people reckon?

I have just fitted a genuine Skoda roof rack (LAS 710 001) to my hatchback. this came up on Ebay for £30 and at the same time there were 2 other genuine ones from different sellers. The fitting into the door apeture is not a threaded hole, there is a plain pin on the roof rack fixing that just fits into the hole in the body. There does not appear to be any issues of leakage, but early days. The genuine one has identifiers on the feet for front/back, right/left so this suggests real custom fit, and that aftermarket may compromise on fit so possible worth looking for fitting instructions. The fitting involves a supplied allen key with an inbuilt torque limiter/setter. Buying a genuine one will exclude use later on different cars which the aftermarket ones will probably allow by buying different feet.

Thule also provide racks for Halfords so they might be slightly different but cheaper.  I am unsure if they make the genuine ones, too.

There has been a roof box advertised here on Briskoda that may well foot the bill, with regards to a box.
