Screen wash

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know what the difference is between VW Quantum screen wash and Quantum premium screen wash. As far as i can tell from descriptions on a well known auction site is the premium has a higher rating for frost protection but the thing that concerns me is the premium states for use with fan jet washer systems where the standard one does not state this. The standard one works out half the price but i don't want to buy if its not suitable. Any feedback would be appreciated.

You pays your money and takes your chance. The regular protects down to -8, the 'premium' down to -15.

Also as mentioned the 'premium' is specifically formulated for fan jets.

There will be plenty of posts following this one from those using supermarket own branded washer fluids who have suffered no adverse effects.

Thanks for that , i am waiting for all the people who say i use cheaper stuff and its all okay etc. At £15 for 5ltrs  or £28 for 10 ltrs i don't think its a crazy price to pay so i will probably go with the premium. its not even a night out remember them!!!

I buy the Prestone screenwash concentrate from Costco when it’s on offer,( under a fiver for 5 L) and have used it in my Octavia, 2 Yetis and my current Kodiaq, never had it freeze or any other issues.

Don't know if it's still a problem these days, but using cheap screenwash sometimes resulted in the growth of a bacterial film which would clog the filters and/or jets. Decent formulations now have anti-bacterial agents, or so I'm told, hence I bulk-bought the VAG Quantum stuff: if I have a 'wash' problem, the dealer can't claim it's my fault for using non-approved screenwash (because we all know that they will eh?)

My car is in the garage next week for the rear nozzle unblocking for the second time. The mechamic said it needs Skoda screenwash to avoid it happening again. This is new to me. I see on ebay that VAG screenwash is available - all good for fan jets. Just wondered if there is any real difference between the VAG stuff and the Quantum?

Many thanks.

As i understand it the VAG stuff and Quantum are the same, i am sure someone on here could confirm this. I have just bought 5 ltrs on eBay for £15 delivered.

Just had a look and no mention, however I have been using the "apple" ones I bought last time there was a promotion for over a year without any problems on both the Octavia and Superb. As above the Apple one was the "premium" good for -15 so will keep what I have left for the winter months and use this for summer time.

Yes they both smell nice 🙂
