replacement steering wheel for Fabia.

Featured Replies

I have been toying with changing my steering wheel for a while s it is showing signs of wear, although still basically sound.

I wanted to ask if anyone knows if the later Fabia steering wheel will be a straight fit or are they different centre boss sizes and/or different airbags?

I have a standard soft plastic wheel and I have seen various different ones, some plastic, some leather and some with audio controls, etc.

Now although I would like to operate the stereo from the wheel, it is not exactly tricky to reach to the dash, to raise/lower the volume so it is not the main consideration but if it is a simple task to find and fit the correct loom to do that, great but otherwise, I might just fit a leather one.

If I need to only fit "Like for Like", I think I will hold back a bit longer as it is not THAT bad, yet!

So, I have seen one from a 2013 Fabia (Non M?F, leather) and mine is a 2009 model. (Non M/F plastic). Would this fit my boss and airbag?  Would a similar age M/F wheel be easy to set up or will it not work?

Thanks for any help people can offer.

Does your current steering wheel look similar to this? Are you looking at getting a wheel like this one?

If so then no the airbag wont fit, you will have to buy the correct airbag for the wheel you want. However the wheel boss will fit, I think most, if not all, new Skoda steering wheels will fit.

I know for sure that steering wheels from Octavia 3 and Fabia 3 will fit Fabia 2.

Fitting MFSW to a non MFSW car can be difficult as it will require being coded with VCDS, there are people on the forums who might be able to do it for you.

Have a search of the forum for threads about changing steering wheels, it has been brought up a fair amount of times so there is a lot of information to learn.

The first one is a leather version of the soft plastic one I have, albeit mine does not have the little chrome trim. (WHYYY)?

The second is not the one I was ;looking at but I will try to post it.

Edit, this type, if MF is too tricky.

Fitting a Multi-Function version of the wheel you posted will still require the same level of trickery and coding as any other so its up to you whether you think its worth it or not.

Apart from that I think your current airbag will fit the one you posted as they are the same wheel so I don't see why they wouldn't.

Yeah, just a slightly different shape to the thumb area, I think. as long as the air bag fits, I am happy though as the air bags seem an arm and a leg to replace, even used and I am not sure I'd like a used one, anyway! Thanks, WillSmithy.

DOH! Some crackerjack has slipped in and purchased the wheel right from under my nose! I hope its not anyone here who knows I was seeking it, that would be adding insult to injury.
