Been trying to remove the silver front grill surround to fit a new black one, but can't get it to budge! 🤬

 

All the info I can find says you just need to use a long flat head screwdriver to push the tabs out either side, but they don't release when I try, any suggestions please? Trying my best not to damage anything...

Open the bonnet to release the top tabs on the surround then you have to just gently slide the screwdriver round the rest of it ,but it will break into many pieces as its a bumper off if you want to save the chrome one ,the black one will just push fit back on after you got all the old bits off

Unfortunately I haven't a clue what he is saying but it'll give you an idea what to do

Thanks, I watched that, shame he didn't actually show himself doing it, rather than the finished article! 🤣

It should have been, but i just couldn't get it to move, I'll try again tomorrow. 

Eventually, many skinned fingers later, and snapped into 20 pieces! 🤬🤬🤬

 

 

Skinned fingers will heal, the old silver one can go into plastic recycling, and that looks great, nice one 👍

Thank you, it was just so much more difficult than I expected it to be, even managed to snap a couple of tabs off the black grill itself, but it still seems solid enough! 😁

You're welcome buddy, and it's what's prevented me from buying one and doing it to be honest...just need to man up and do it 🤣

 

It looks so much better than the silver grille on VRS...

 

You now just need the colour-coded Skoda emblems from Super Skoda now 😎

 

What would also be really cool is a full set of black badges, which I think are also available from Super Skoda, or maybe even the main dealer, seeing as the new cars are appearing with them.
